June 2007 - This is still caragana but a different color due to the part
of the tree it came from. Caragana arborescens is commonly referred to as Siberian
Peashrub or Caragana. This hardy shrub is a native of Siberia. In the past, Caragana was a
popular shelterbelt species and it is now grown as an ornamental shrub for the urban
gardener in Canada. Caragana is drought and salt tolerant and thrives in relatively poor
or sandy, well drained soil. It is very common in Saskatchewan.
